Dear Mrs Zrihen,
I just finished reading the book Classy by Derek Blasberg. The genre of this book is non fiction the sub genre of this book is informational, it gives you information about how you can be a classy lady without looking trashy. The topic of this book is classy ladies, the main idea of this book would be How to be a classy lady. The main idea is stated on the back cover and in a lot of chapters. I can't think of a different title that could fit better for this book, this book is every girls guide to be a classy lady.
"My shocking realization? There are far too many tramps in the world" -Derek Blasberg. from the About the authors page. I picked this quote because its true. Its a fact, Many women can't understand the fact that in order to find a man or a true friend you have to be classy not trashy. Wearing dresses that are way.. to short is not classy it's trashy. However, i disagree with derek i think the cloth is what makes a woman's outfit slutty or classy not her shoes. In my opinion i find high heels classy it shows how mature you are.
Classy ladies have a better reputation than non classy ladies. I rate this book a 9 out of 10 because at times the book states the obvious. The five text features there are in the book are pictures, which lets us readers see exactly what the author is talking about, bullet points which breaks done the authors topic. Titles, subtitles and graphs.
It isn't easy comparing and contrasting a classy woman and a trampy lady. there are many differences. The Text feature picture would be the best way to show it. This picture of Kim Kardashian ( http://www.okmagazine.com/2009/07/photos-kim-kardashian-black-white-and-red-carpet-all-over/ ) is called classy, not showing shoulders or any thing else around that area and covering her knees. I think the high heels made the picture :). Now, this picture of a tramp (an unclasp woman) would be Rhinna on a red carpet wearing a short strapless dress. The pattern of organization of this book is bullet points, the author Derek Balsberg picked the topic of classy and broke it own for us readers as bullet points. The authors purpose was to inform us about what type of lady you are either a classy one or a tramp which means non classy. The authors perspective was to write a book to inform woman all over the world about his opinion and beliefs. A non classy woman is no lady. A classy female is no teenager. Classy woman is what every guy would look for personality & class. You might as well please the guys as your self and everyone else.
The essential message in the text was definitely stated all over this readers journal. How to be a classy lady and the good things about being a classy lady than a tramp, Class over trash. Cause: being a tramp, unclassy. Effect: worse reputation. cause: Being classy. Effect: Better and nicer reputation. And finally a grown woman. The only thing that determines a woman from being a lady and a woman is class. FACT.
The strategies i did before reading were Reading the synopsis and back cover for anyone else's opinions on the book. While reading, i reread the parts i never understood and took notes in every chapter. After reading, i searched up classy and unclasp outfits.A text to self would be how i like to see on TV classy outfits walking down the red carpet. Text to text- would be a fashion book. I didn't run into one. Only a fashion magazine. Text to world would be to all the UNCLASSY lades out there. class over trash !
Three supporting details to the main idea would be Fashion and it is stated on chapter 3 called "How a woman should dress" another supporting idea would be personality and how to act around other people. it is stated in chapter 16 "How a woman should act"

Non-Fiction Readers Journal #3

Dear Mrs Zrihen,
I just finished the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, My favorite quote in the book is "Speak up for yourself - we want to know what you have to say." from page 32. i picked this quote because Melinda didn't speak up about what happened the night of the party, she didn't tell anyone till she couldn't keep quiet anymore and it was killing her inside. That was the biggest mistake in my opinion that Melinda made.Two strategies i did before i read the book was reading the synopsis & about the author page. While i was reading i was skimming & scanning for the pattern of organization which is Special order, because Melinda describes exactly what happened first to last the night of the party.The genre of this book is non fiction and the sub genre is biography. The topic is outcast. The main idea would be friendless and isolated, it is stated in chapter 1. The three supporting details to the main idea would be. 1: outcast, 2: quiet, 3: being threatened. The essential message in this book would be never keep quiet about what scares you, always SPEAK up.The cause in the book would be being raped and bullied at a party and the effect would be calling the cops. Another cause and effect would be cause not telling anyone about what happened at the party and the effect would be outcast in high school and not getting the rapist in jail. Text features in the book would be titles, headings bold words italics and capitalized words.The authors purpose in the book was to Teach a lesson about going to dangerous places and the cause of not speaking up. In my opinion because Melinda never spoke up about what happened the book was called speak.Melinda should of spoke up before it was too late.The point of view in first person, since melinda was telling us what she heard, what she saw & what she felt. I rate this book an 8 because at times i got mad of Melindas actions or other people actions in the book, the way they bullied her. My friend Joelle Metsch recommended this book to me in camp, and i am very happy she did because i learned a lot through this book. I recommend this book to everyone i don't think there would be one girl that wouldn't love this book even when it's sad.

Reader's Journal - Fiction #2

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,
I just finished reading the book Well Always Have Summer by Jenny Han. My favorite quote was definitely the one that wrapped up the whole book in a couple sentences. "It's a known fact in life that in life you can't have everything. In my heart i knew i loved them both, as much as it is possible to love two people at the same time. Conrad and I were linked, we would always be linked. That wasn't something i could do with. I know that now- That love wasn't something erase no matter how hard you try" -Belly. I picked this quote because i couldn't agree less with it!
This book has many literary elements in it, The genre of this book is Fiction since the sub genre of it is romance. There is a characterization between the old quiet younger belly and now the prettier, louder, & older belly. In this book Belly is the protagonist and Conrad is the antagonist. Conrad is mean to belly at some points of the book since they broke up and got into a huge argument.
This book took place in cousins beach, in the summer time of course. The weather was hot and windy at nights, which made the perfect summer days. The conflict was man vs. man either belly vs. Conrad or belly vs. her parents. The tone of this book was happy and annoyed at times. My mood was excided and mysterious to see what happens next !
I rate this book a 10 out of 10, although this book disappointing me at times, the last page completed my rating and made my obsession with this serie. I recommended this books to all my friends in camp. I recommended this book to all the girls out there that thought they aren't worthy enough for a boyfriend or any girl that thought they weren't worthy enough for a PERFECT boyfriend.
two stratagies i have been doing before i read this book was re read the last chapter of the last book and search up the vocabulary words incase i run into them again. two stratagies i have been doing while reading the book i skimmed & scanned through the book to find context clues.
the point of view is first person, using i and we or me. The authors purpose of this book is entertain us about young teen romances and there ups and downs. The pattern of organization is special order since belly says first, second , and third. using an order to do something.
