Dear Jessica Bendayan,
I have just finished reading the book It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han. I hope you enjoyed the first book of the series. Before we switch books back i would like to tell you about my book and why i recommend it to you. First of all, i would recommend this book because it is definitely my favorite one of the series so far! I rate it a 9 out of 10, Because one of my favorite parts of the first book was her "boyfriend" Cam. She would say he is her boyfriend but i was never sure if they really were after all the fights. As soon as you finish the first book The summer i turned pretty, The last page is the most romantic one out of the whole book. I wont tell you what happened in till you finish the book, But Cam is not in the second book at all :(.
The Second book has a lot more emotions and drama in it. Since savannah is gone. Belly has many decisions to make. It gets so confusing in the beginning! The author's tone, made my mood very sad and upset.
"Happiness is a slurpee and a hot pink straw" -Belly. Page 256. I agree with this quote because i love slurpee's haha, but in a slurpee you can put whatever you want. In life you pick who is in it. I am not so sure about the pink straw but i am guessing its her favorite color. I forgot to mention that they all have an obsession with cherry and coke slurpees.
While i was reading this book i used the strategies of skim and scanning for context clues in the beginning of chapters, sometimes it would say JEREMIAH meaning it was hes point of view and he was the author of those chapters. Before i read i used the strategies of reading the synopsis for any context clues, and i kept on reading the last chapter from the first book, it could get a little confusing. After i finished reading the book i turned back to all the prologue read it over and i compared and contrasted it to what she thinks about Conrand now in the book, there was a big change.
This book's Genre is Non fiction, it is non fiction because it is romance and mystery. The topic of this book would be Summer House, the Main idea would be Fischer summer house in cousins. The main idea is stated many times in the book. Supporting details to the main idea would be, belly only sees the fischer family once a year only in the summer, She has been going to the summer house with the fischer's ever since she was born, Factual. Belly's mom is best friends with Savanna fischer that is why they are together all summer, Factual. If i could give the book a new name i would name it, Summer at cousins or at home?
The essential Message in this book in my opinion would be, "If you love someone let them go, If they come back there yours" Conrad came back to her after all. If you love someone let them go, if they love you back they will return into your life. Don't give up on someone, EVER. A cause and effect in this book would be Cause: Savanna died and Belly swearing at Conrad, Effect: Conrad running away to cousins depressed.
The difference between Cousins and home for belly, Is not being with Conrad, Jeremiah & savanna. The similarities would be, Beach houses and more boys and parties. Cousins is where I would love to spend a summer it sounds like a gorgeous place, Jessica come with me one day ? I would love to! There are also many text features in this book such as subtitles, Capitalized words, Italized words. The P.O.O would be Problem and solution, Belly finds herself crying many times, Facing many problems.
The authors purpose would be Entertain, i think it would be entertaining because just like every girl we love to read romances, and this series is one of the best romance books i have ever read. The authors perspective is that Conrad loves her, she belongs to him. Only him. Belly can't imagine her with any other guy. The author is subjective.
Hope you like The first book ! :)

I miss you already !
Sincerely Your friend,
Raheli Haliva
Dear Raheli,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your reader's journal! :)
Is the genre of a book really nonfiction if the sub-genres are romance and mystery?
How does the quote you chose relate to the book?
I really liked your reader's journal! :)
Love,
Bailey Levy <3
Dear Bailey,
ReplyDeletethanks ! my quote is related because slurpees can be mixed or left with one flavor thats how she feels with these two brothers since at times she loves them both and the others only one.
Thank you!
